Academic Analytics was established in 2005 by a former senior university administrator who recognized the power of data to strengthen the research enterprise. Since then, we’ve become a trusted source of benchmarking data for all PhD-granting institutions in the U.S.—helping academic leaders evaluate their research activity in the context of national peers.

Our Steering Committee and Senior Academic Advisors—who bring decades of experience from institutions such as MIT, Duke, The Ohio State University, Indiana University, and UC Berkeley—guide our mission and ensure our work reflects the realities of academic leadership. We believe that standardized, accurate research metrics—paired with local knowledge and disciplinary insight—can spark meaningful dialogue and inform strategic decision-making across campus.
